About SWSM 2026
The 3rd IWA Conference on Sustainable Natural and Engineered Water Systems Management brings together scientists, engineers, policy makers, industry leaders, young professionals and institutional stakeholders to exchange scientific knowledge, technological innovations and practical experience in sustainable water systems management.
Hosted in Agadir, Morocco, the conference connects water sustainability with environmental health, food safety, climate resilience and sustainable development, with particular attention to water-scarce and climate-vulnerable regions. It fosters international collaboration around integrated solutions for a more sustainable water future.
Scientific framework
Explore the key themes shaping sustainable, resilient and innovative water systems for a changing world. The list of topics is indicative and not exhaustive.
Sustainable approaches to water resource planning, groundwater protection and integrated management under water scarcity and climate change.
Advancing wastewater reuse, resource recovery and circular approaches that maximise water efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
Innovative treatment technologies addressing water quality, emerging contaminants, desalination and environmental protection.
Exploring the connections between water resources, food production, environmental quality and human health.
Building resilient water systems through adaptive solutions for climate change, drought and increasing water scarcity.
Transforming wastewater-derived resources into valuable assets while supporting circular economy and sustainable development.
Scientific framework
A major focus is the occurrence, monitoring, fate, treatment and management of contaminants of emerging concern across natural and engineered water systems.

Destination · Agadir
Agadir and the Souss-Massa region place critical questions of water, agriculture and climate resilience in direct conversation with science and innovation. The region combines desalination, wastewater reuse, water-efficient agriculture, climate adaptation and sustainable horticulture, so delegates can see real-world water solutions in operation rather than only discussing them.
Conference venue
SWSM 2026 will take place at the Agadir Horticultural Complex (CHA), Hassan II Institute of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine, in Ait Melloul, Agadir, Morocco.
