Abbreviations

Should be defined at first use

Preferred structure

The abstract should preferably follow the following structure:

  1. Background / Context – briefly introduce the issue or challenge addressed.
  2. Objective – clearly state the purpose of the study, project or contribution.
  3. Methods / Approach – describe the methodology, approach, case-study design or analytical framework.
  4. Results / Key Findings – present the main results or outcomes. Abstracts stating only that “results will be presented” should be avoided.
  5. Conclusions / Implications – explain the scientific, technical, policy or practical significance of the work.

For policy, professional, technology or case-study contributions where a conventional research structure is not appropriate, authors may use an equivalent structure covering the challenge, approach, results/impact and key lessons or implications.

Commercial or promotional submissions without substantive scientific content will not be accepted.

Author Information

The following information is required:

Authors should ensure that names, affiliations and author order are correct before the submission deadline.

03

Environmental Technologies and Water Treatment

04

Water, Food and Health Nexus

05

Presentation Preference

Indicate one of the following preferences:

Oral Presentation

Digital Poster – Interactive Touchscreen Display

No Preference

The Scientific Committee will take the author’s preference into consideration; however, the final presentation format will be determined by the Scientific Committee based on scientific quality, relevance, programme balance and available session capacity.

Scientific Review

Each abstract will be assessed on the basis of:

The Scientific Committee reserves the right to accept, reject or propose a different presentation format for submitted contributions.

Authors will be informed of the review decision by email.

Digital Poster – Interactive Touchscreen Display

SWSM 2026 will use digital poster stations displayed on portrait-oriented interactive touch-screen totems. Printed posters will therefore not be required.

Accepted digital-poster authors will prepare one single-page digital poster designed specifically for on-screen viewing.

Animations / video

Not supported unless otherwise communicated by the organisers

If authors prepare the poster in PowerPoint, a 33.75 cm × 60 cm portrait slide can be used to preserve the 9:16 ratio.

Because PDFs are vector-based, the exact pixel resolution is less important than preserving the 9:16 portrait format and readability.

Recommended poster structure

The poster should normally include:

Authors are encouraged to prioritise figures, diagrams, photographs, charts and concise text rather than dense paragraphs.

Recommended type sizes

For comfortable reading on a touch-screen display, we recommend approximately:

Title

36 pt or larger

Section headings

28 pt or larger

Body text

20–22 pt or larger

High contrast between text and background is strongly recommended.

The touch-screen system will allow delegates to browse and view posters digitally. Authors are not required to create an interactive or multimedia file.

Presenter Responsibilities

At least one author of each accepted abstract must register for the conference by the presenting-author registration deadline for the contribution to be included in the final programme.

Authors accepted for oral or digital-poster presentation are expected to attend the conference and present their work during the session assigned by the Scientific Committee.

Detailed oral-presentation schedules and digital-poster session arrangements will be communicated to accepted authors.
